This message is long overdue, but many have asked for the powerpoint presentation that Eileen Kao delivered to the Kayamut/Sustainability Circle on June 18, 2012. The file is too large to upload directly on our Jewcology Kayamut site, but it's now available for download via dropbox at https://www.dropbox.com/s/hvhgsztggt5bb2l/Recycling-Presentation-to-Kayamut-6-18-12.ppt . You can also watch portions of Eileen's presentation at http://www.jewcology.com/content/view/Kayamut-Sustainability-Circle-June-18-2012.
Thanks to everyone, and especially Anton Goodman, for coming out to a great presentation about Israel and the environment on Monday night, May 20. We explored a specific case study: Mateh Yehuda and the challenges and opportunities related to fracking in Israel. Attached are two audio clips from Anton's talk. The video about Mateh Yehuda can be found at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTqxZSoVMsQ.
Join us this Sunday! Bring your family and join the Kayamut/Sustainability Circle as we celebrate Lag b'Omer on April 28 at the Brookside Nature Center. WHAT: The Brookside Nature Center, located on Glenallen Avenue, hosts an annual Forest Friends Festival which coincides with Lag b'Omer this year. The festival is hours of outdoors fun, exploration and education. The event will feature tree care tips from the pros, tree climbing for kids (with ropes and tackle), bucket rides to the tree tops, forest-friendly crafts, special presentations, forest critters, vendors, a bushel of information and more! It will be a fun day for children and adults alike. WHEN: The festival runs from 11 am - 4 pm on Sunday, April 28. Kayamuters will meet at 1 pm for special Omer-themed Torah learning. We will have drinks, fruit and graham crackers on hand. After the Torah learning, we will participate in the festival! WHERE: Kayamuters will meet at 1:00 pm near the BNC pond. For a map of where we will meet, visit: http://www.canfeinesharim.org/uploadedImages/site/brookside-map.jpg The Brookside event costs $5.00. Learn more at http://parkpass.org/Activities/ActivitiesCourseDetails.asp?cid=241553. We hope to see you this Sunday to celebrate Lag b'Omer! Sincerely, Ellen and Evonne
