Despite all the headlines and rhetoric of conflict here is a positive project for understanding and co-existence- Heavens Field Farm- where the emphasis is on our belonging to the land, not ownership. A small group of Israelis and Palestinians are working together to create an organic farm- a piece of land where both sides will aspire to respect each other and the Land that is our common source- of life and strife. Tu b'shvat in Israel! come join the Conservative Yeshiva and JiVE! at the community garden on Derech Hevron, 148 on Thursday morning (2/9) from 9:45-1pm. We'll be planting and mulching in the garden, then sitting down over some sources about gardens in cities and Jerusalem's urban planning. absolutely right evonne.. The environmental movement is mostly comprised of people not interested in making a bi-partisan appeal- and we need to get over the perspective in which its "us against them" and find a deeper language of working for all of us... The casual unity many of us feel with the broader Left is quite an impediment to the flowing of the environmental values across the political spectrum. The healthy part of this process is it challenges us to come out of the "zero-sum" plane ...more...
